July 29, police responded to a report of a large group of unruly people in the street in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue in Evanston, Antoine Bouzi, 20, 1100 Pitner was arguing with another man. When Bouzi saw police, he grabbed his waistband, crouched over and started running. An officer chased Bouzi, who allegedly turned and fired two shots from a sawed-off shotgun, missing the officer. Bouzi escaped but was arrested in Chicago on Sunday and being held without bail and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm said Cdr. Tom Guenther.

August 6, SWAT officers surrounded a South Side home near 84th Street and Wabash in the Chatham neighborhood after Police had initially received a call about 10:30 a.m. of a person with a knife in that area. When they arrived, the man was sitting outside the garage and spoke with him before barricading himself inside a garage. Neighbors believe the suspect is a former Chicago police officer who had a relationship with a woman who lives at the home who is also believed to be a Chicago police officer. The man was eventually taken into custody about 7:20 p.m.

August 7, Chicago police shot and killed an armed man who shot at officers and then hid in a gangway on the South Side, police said. The incident marked the second time in less than 24 hours that Chicago police instituted a barricade response, requiring the presence of SWAT officers.

Police approached Teague, who they thought appeared suspicious, at 79th and Justine Streets about 10:30 p.m. The gunman fired multiple shots at the officers opening fire on one of the SWAT officers, striking him in his protective vest. The bullet became lodged in one of the vest's pockets, police said hit one officer's shoe and the bulletproof vest of another, but wounded neither one, police said. He also opened fire with his semi-automatic gun on a police helicopter hovering over the scene in the Auburn Gresham community, police said. Teague then ran to a gangway outside a nearby building at 79th and Bishop Streets to seek refuge, where police fatally shot the gunman multiple times according to the Cook County medical examiner's autopsy. The Independent Police Review Authority began investigating the circumstances early Wednesday after police recovered the gun involved in the shooting. The standoff lasted until about 1 a.m., police spokesperson Monique Bond said.
