Starting Jan. 1, fares will increase as much as 50 cents to $2.25 a ride on CTA buses. The CTA board lowered the proposed increase on a 30-day pass from $90 to $86 increased from $75. Pace's board of directors approved a budget calling for fare hikes to $1.75 on all routes from $1.50. Pace approved a new Pace/CTA seven-day pass for passengers who use both CTA and Pace it will cost $29 and go on sale at the beginning of 2009. After Dec. 31, Pace will no longer accept the CTA seven-day pass.
Metra feeder and local fare zone routes found in Joliet, Aurora, Elgin and Waukegan will increase from $1.25 to $1.75.
