ray washington, an alleged leader of the four corner hustler gang for at least seven years, was gunned down thursday afternoon while standing outside a west side residence in the 3800 block of west flournoy. police think washington was having the property appraised when he was shot by three men over gang issues authorities said. "they did a murder in plain view in the middle of day,and we got 'em. We were on them. That's what our job is,'' gang enforcement section cmdr. leo schmitz said.

reginald Royal, 32, lonnial rountree, 20, and terrance hilson, 29, were each charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm in the murder, according to police. washington, a convicted felon, was pronounced dead at mount sinai hospital at 2:17 p.m., a spokesman for the cook county medical examiner's office said. washington has an arrest record that includes narcotics and weapons violations, according to records. his name also surfaced in major mortgage fraud investigations involving upper-level gang members, a source said.
