Behin The Hate-Against All Odds

The Chicago Voices Against Violence Contest and Expo started in March 2008 with more than 120 anti-violence-themed entries in music, art, performance and is presented by the Chicago Department of Children and Youth Services and the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) and ended with the Voices Against Violence Expo on Saturday, June 28, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt. This contest is part of the City's campaign to reduce youth violence in Chicago. Voices Against Violence is sponsored by Clear Channel Radio Chicago. The Expo featured an exhibition of the top 40 contest finalists art/spoken word or film. Four grand-prize winners were chosen by a panel of judges consisting of local celebrities, youth, and representatives from the Chicago Department of Children and Youth Services and the Chicago Police Department. All finalists received prizes and grand prize winners received $1,000.
