Behind The Hate-Mr 10.25%

ImageHost.org
Including the quarter percentage-point RTA sales-tax increase approved by the General Assembly that went into effect April 1, Chicago shoppers will pay a 10.25 percent sales tax—higher than any other major American city. So, if one makes a $300 purchase, the tab in sales taxes would be $30.75 in Chicago, $30 in Schaumburg and Skokie and $29.25 in Orland Park. The county portion of the sales tax applies to clothes, furniture, restaurant food and alcohol. It does not apply to cars, boats, groceries or medicine.
